SeeByte has formed a partnership with ASV, leading supplier of Unmanned and Autonomous Marine Systems, to bring new advanced capabilities and solutions to the field of maritime autonomy. The partnership aims to develop the next generation of adaptive autonomy by working together across the fleet of ASV platforms and integrating SeeByte’s software solutions with the ASView control system. In the more immediate future operations will improve by adjusting missions to customers’ goals in a range of application such as oil & gas, defence and oceanography.

The long-term vision will provide over-the-horizon unmanned surface vessels operations dynamically adapting their mission to the environment with little human interaction and acting as relays to unmanned underwater vehicle operations.

The collaboration builds from recent successes on the NERC funded Adaptive Autonomous Ocean Sampling Network (AAOSN) programme. ASV’s C-Enduro was able to run in a series of trials fully autonomous and adaptive behaviours useful for oceanography. SeeByte’s software package developed for the programme is based on an open architecture which allows behaviours to be written by third parties. As part of this programme ASV successfully developed and run their own fish-tracking behaviour for their vehicles.
