SeeByte, the global market leader in the development of smart software for uncrewed maritime systems, are looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Officer to join their team in Edinburgh or Bristol.

Please note, there will be adhoc travel required to the Edinburgh office when required.

As part of our ongoing growth and investment, we are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Commercial Officer to join our team reporting into the Commercial Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their career as a commercial specialist supporting a variety of bids and contracts for key programmes, products and customers.

Experience in the defence sector is ideal but not essential. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a successful team and experience in commercial contracting or in related business environments. Having experience working with customers is also advantageous.

As a Senior Commercial Officer, you will support the full lifecycle of the commercial process, contributing to the success and compliance of business activities.

Specifically, you will provide advice and support across all stages of the contract lifecycle, from bid through to completion, helping to draft, review and negotiate a variety of agreements.

Alongside this, you will contribute to the development and execution of commercial strategies across the business, champion continuous improvement, and uphold robust governance and risk management standards.

You will work closely with the different functional teams in Engineering, Finance, and Operations, to ensure that all commercial and contractual obligations are met efficiently and in line with company policies and regulations.

This role offers significant development potential for motivated and dynamic individuals who, over and above delivery of strong commercial management, are prepared to proactively seek out opportunities and embrace a wide range of challenges encountered in a growing software company.

  • Drafting, negotiating, and managing customer contract terms and conditions.

  • Reviewing agreements such Confidentiality Agreements and providing guidance on software licencing terms and conditions.

  • Delivering commercial support and contract administration across projects, including managing change control, tracking performance against contractual obligations, and mitigating commercial risks.

  • Attending and participating in customer meetings.

  • Contributing to customer proposal generation and coordinating required internal approvals.

  • Ensuring compliance with commercial and business processes.

  • Building and sustaining productive relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers to create mutual value.

  • Supporting business functions as they develop new business opportunities and the execution of current contracts.

  • A degree, professional qualification, or relevant experience in the domain.

  • A grasp of contract law and its practical application.

  • Familiarity with fundamental business finance principles, including profit and loss, pricing types and cost escalation.

  • Awareness of export regulations and the implications of import taxes and duties is advantageous.

  • Capability to identify, assess, and manage commercial risks effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and suppliers.

  • A proactive, resilient, and results-oriented mindset.

  • Confidence to work independently and within virtual or distributed teams when required.
